Dear Sound Arts Parents,
At holiday time last year, Sound Arts held a very successful toy drive to benefit the 1736 Family Crisis Center. With offices here in the South Bay, 1736 Family Crisis is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the safety and fostering the long-term survival and success of runaway and homeless youth, battered women, and their children. This year, in conjunction with the upcoming production of “A Winter Holiday with No Strings Attached,” we are planning to hold a second annual Sound Arts toy drive to benefit the families served by the crisis center.
If you’re interested in participating, we’re asking you or your child to bring a new, unwrapped toy to any of the upcoming Sound Arts rehearsals between now and November 30th, where a collection box will be set up to receive your contribution. Donated toys will first be used to decorate the Grand View Performing Arts Center during the “A Winter Holiday with No Strings Attached” performances on December 5th and 7th, and afterward, will be given away for holiday distribution to children receiving services at 1736 Family Crisis.
Because we know you have many opportunities to make worthwhile contributions and donations this time of year, please feel free to contribute to this toy drive only if it doesn’t conflict with your other charitable commitments. However, if you’re looking for a worthy cause to support during the holiday season, please consider donating a toy to this drive. Your contribution will both help decorate our Performing Arts Center and will make the holidays a little brighter for a child right here in our community.
Toys may be as small or as large as you like and must be new and in their original packaging. Stuffed animals will be accepted and must be new with tags. Donations of new books also are welcome. To help you make your donation selection, please note that children receiving these gifts will range in age from 0 to 17 years.
Please avoid donating any toy weapons, and please do not wrap the toys in gift paper.
We look forward to enjoying the wonderful performances of all of our Sound Arts kids in “A Winter Holiday No Strings Attached,” and we know that our gifts of toys and books through this toy drive will bring smiles to a multitude of children during the holiday season.
